Job Description The University of Missouri invites applications for an Instructor in Exercise Physiology . Position Summary The Division of Food, Nutrition, and Exercise Sciences at the University of Missouri invites applications for a full-time Instructor of Exercise Physiology. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality undergraduate education through effective teaching, curricular coordination, and student mentoring in exercise physiology and related applied fitness courses. This position supports the division's mission to improve human health and physical activity through excellence in instruction and student preparation for professional careers. Primary Responsibilities (Teaching - 100%) Teach undergraduate courses in exercise physiology, exercise and fitness, and related areas, including courses with required laboratory components. Deliver instruction primarily in face-to-face formats, with occasional hybrid or online delivery as determined by program needs. Develop, update, and maintain course materials consistent with departmental learning outcomes and accreditation or professional standards, when applicable. Employ inclusive, evidence-based, and student-centered teaching practices. Coordinate laboratory activities, ensure proper use of instructional equipment, and comply with all safety and risk-management protocols. Evaluate student learning outcomes and participate in assessment and continuous course improvement. Hold regular office hours and provide academic support to students Department and University Context The position is housed in the Division of Food, Nutrition, and Exercise Sciences , within the College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources. The mission of the department is to improve the health of Missourians and the broader population through teaching, research, and outreach related to food, nutrition and physical activity. Reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory performance, departmental need, and availability of funding.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
A Master's degree or PhD in Exercise Physiology or a closely related discipline Candidates will be evaluated on: Demonstrated record of quality instruction at the undergraduate and/or graduate level Professional certification such as American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) , or comparable credentials Experience teaching in both in-person and online instructional modalities Application Materials Review of applications will begin immediately, with preferential consideration given to applications received by July 15, 2026 .
