Job Description

The Career and Technical Center within the Department of Career and Wellness Education invites applications for a full-time, temporary, grant-funded faculty position at the rank of Instructor for the 2026-2027 academic year. The successful candidate will serve as a Field Resource Person, supporting career and technical education teacher preparation through instruction, mentoring, field supervision, and professional development activities. This position provides professional development support throughout the IUP service region and will primarily serve either the West Central or Northern territory, based on program needs. West Central portion of the IUP territory could include the following: AW Beattie Beaver Butler Lawrence Mon Valley Parkway Pittsburgh Public Steel Center Western Northern portion of the IUP territory could include the following :

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Teaching field-based, career and technical teacher certification coursework. Mentoring career and technical intern teachers predominately in the Central/South-West area of the IUP territory. Meeting with career and technical teacher interns at regional career and technical schools and high schools throughout the IUP service region as assigned. Observing and evaluating intern teacher performance using departmental observation instruments aligned with the Danielson model and career and technical teacher certification standards. Providing professional development in support of the Center's mission. Active participation in the department, college, university, and Career and Technical Education Community. Advising students regarding certification and coursework. Candidates will be assigned to perform work at off-campus sites and/or provide instruction through distance education. Daily travel to schools in the IUP service region of Western Pennsylvania will be required. Assignments to schools will be based upon enrollment. Candidates must be work eligible, communicate effectively, and perform well during the interview which may include a teaching demonstration.
Required:
Bachelor's Degree plus 15 credits. Hold a valid secondary teaching credential in an approved career and technical education field. Candidates must also qualify for Act34, 114, and 151 clearances.
Preferred:
Three years teaching experience in a Career & Technical field (i.e., Trade and Industrial Education, Agriculture, Home Economics Education, Technology Education, Health Occupations, Business Education, Marketing Education, etc.). Leadership experience strongly preferred.
