Community in DiversityStrength of CharacterAcademic ExcellenceKinship With CreationSocial JusticeJoyScience Teacher Job SummaryBishop ODowd High School is seeking excellent candidates for high school Science teachers, with an emphasis in Biology and our 9th grade course, Science and the Environment for the 2026 - 2027 academic year. This is a full-time position, teaching five sections each semester and participating in the ODowd community. The successful candidates will be able to masterfully teach high school level courses for 9th and 10th graders. The ideal candidate will also have a commitment to bringing diversity, equity, and inclusion into their teaching practice and a demonstrated interest in Catholic education, educational technology, and a working knowledge of NGSS guidelines and applications. Other responsibilities may include teaching electives, maintaining regular office hours, supporting student co-curricular activities, and collaborating regularly with colleagues. Teachers at Bishop ODowd High School are responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an appropriate instructional program in alignment with Bishop ODowd High Schools Integral Student Outcomes. The individual in this position will collaborate most closely with their respective department team, ensuring consistency across grade-levels and content areas. Teachers are also expected to collaborate and communicate consistently with counselors to ensure whole-student support and success while maintaining open and engaging lines of communication with guardians and families.

Science Teacher Job requirements may include but are not limited to:

Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning and are in accordance with school standardsObserve and evaluate student performance and developmentUse appropriate technology to support and differentiate instructionEncourage and monitor student progress and use data to enhance or adjust teaching strategiesProvide appropriate feedback in a timely mannerMaintain accurate and complete records of student progress and masteryWork outside the normal schedule periodically in order to collaborate with colleaguesMaintain restorative policies in accordance with the rules of Bishop ODowd High SchoolParticipate constructively and professionally in department, school, and parent meetingsParticipate constructively and professional in departmental and school-wide professional developmentParticipate in co-curricular activities such as social activities, sporting events, clubs, retreats, student organizations, student advisories, and affinity spaces as directedA successful Science Teacher candidate will:
