This dynamic role involves delivering engaging lessons in chemistry and physics, fostering critical thinking, and nurturing a love for science among students preparing for higher education or careers in STEM fields. Responsibilities Design and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards for upper-level chemistry and physics courses, including organic chemistry, biochemistry, thermodynamics, mechanics, electromagnetism, and related topics. Develop innovative curricula incorporating modern learning technology tools such as virtual labs, simulations, and interactive platforms to enhance student engagement. Assess student progress through assignments, exams, projects, and laboratory work; provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement. Foster an inclusive classroom environment that promotes active participation, critical thinking, and collaboration among students of diverse backgrounds. Manage classroom activities efficiently to ensure a safe, respectful, and productive learning space; employ effective classroom management strategies. Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce understanding of complex concepts like calculus, differential equations, statistics, geometry, trigonometry, algebra, data structures, microeconomics, genetics, physiology knowledge, anatomy knowledge, chemical engineering principles, electrical engineering fundamentals, mechanical engineering concepts, computer science topics including machine learning and discrete math. Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects that integrate science with technology and mathematics disciplines such as computer skills and working with data structures. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, lesson plans, and assessments; participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices. Experience Proven classroom experience teaching upper-level science courses at the high school or higher education level. Demonstrated expertise in chemistry (including organic chemistry) and physics (including mechanics and electromagnetism), with additional knowledge in biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, physiology knowledge, anatomy knowledge. Strong background in curriculum development tailored for advanced learners; experience integrating learning technology into lessons. Familiarity with tutoring students across various skill levels in STEM subjects such as math (algebra, geometry, calculus), statistics, differential equations, discrete math. Experience working with children or young adults in educational settings; prior involvement in special education or early childhood education is a plus. Proficiency in computer skills necessary for lesson planning and utilizing educational software; understanding of data structures relevant to computer science topics like machine learning is advantageous. Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate students while managing classroom dynamics effectively.
