High School Marine Science Teacher Position Overview:
Pinecrest Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable High School Marine Science Teacher. The ideal candidate is passionate about oceanography, environmental science, and hands-on learning, with a commitment to inspiring students through engaging classroom and laboratory experiences. This teacher will deliver standards-aligned instruction while fostering curiosity, scientific inquiry, and real-world application of marine science concepts.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver high school marine science instruction aligned to Florida's B.E.S.T. Standards Design and implement hands-on laboratory experiments, field investigations, and interactive activities related to oceanography, ecosystems, and environmental science Develop lessons that promote critical thinking, data analysis, and problem-solving skills Use assessment data to inform instruction and differentiate learning for diverse students Maintain a safe, structured, and engaging classroom and lab environment Integrate technology, simulations, and project-based learning to enhance understanding Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress Collaborate with colleagues during Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to improve instructional practices Maintain accurate records and comply with all school, district, and state requirements Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and extracurricular activities
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Marine Science, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field Valid Florida Teaching Certificate (or eligibility) in Science (Grades 6-12) Strong experience with laboratory instruction and marine science content Knowledge of Florida standards and state assessment expectations Excellent classroom management and organizational skills Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching high school marine science, environmental science, or oceanography ESOL endorsement or Reading Endorsement Experience with fieldwork, inquiry-based instruction, and STEM integration
