Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Middle/Upper Science Teacher to inspire and educate students in grades corresponding to middle and high school levels. Responsibilities Design and implement comprehensive science lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating instructional design best practices and learning technology tools. Deliver engaging lessons across multiple scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, physics, and AP level courses. Conduct laboratory experiments, dissections, and research activities to enhance experiential learning in areas like organic chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, and microbiology. Assess student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and project-based evaluations; provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement. Manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering an inclusive environment that supports students with diverse learning needs, including those requiring special education accommodations. Mentor students academically and personally through tutoring sessions, academic advising, and behavior management strategies. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional planning, and integrating research laboratory experiences into the classroom setting. Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and lesson plans; ensure compliance with education administration policies. Engage in ongoing professional development by participating in research activities, attending workshops on educational technology and instructional design, and staying current with advancements in scientific research. Skills Extensive knowledge of scientific disciplines including biology (cell biology, genetics), chemistry (organic chemistry), physics (differential equations), and mathematics (algebra, geometry, calculus). Proven experience in curriculum development tailored for middle and upper school levels Strong laboratory experience with dissection techniques and research laboratory procedures; ability to guide students through scientific research projects. Proficiency in integrating learning technology tools into daily instruction to enhance student engagement and understanding. Excellent classroom management skills combined with effective communication skills for working with students of varying abilities. Ability to design lessons that incorporate standardized testing preparation while fostering critical thinking skills through inquiry-based learning. Experience mentoring students in research activities or science competitions; familiarity with library services for academic resource support. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team of educators; experience in private school settings or higher education teaching is advantageous. Strong proofreading skills for developing clear instructional materials; adept at instructional design that promotes active learning environments.
