Job Description

Eastern Greene Middle School is seeking a dedicated and student-focused 6th Grade Science Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will create an engaging classroom environment that encourages curiosity, scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and hands-on learning. This position will work collaboratively with the 6th Grade Team, Science Department, and other school staff to provide standards-based instruction that supports the academic growth and success of all students. Qualifications Appropriate Indiana teaching license required Knowledge of middle school science content and Indiana Academic Standards Experience teaching science or working with middle school students preferred Ability to plan and facilitate engaging, inquiry-based science instruction Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills Ability to effectively incorporate technology into instruction Interest in sponsoring or coaching extracurricular activities preferred Job Goals Carry out the goals and objectives of the 6th Grade Science curriculum Provide standards-based instruction in individual, small-group, and whole-group settings Encourage students to explore scientific concepts through investigation, problem-solving, and hands-on learning Meet the needs of students with varying abilities, interests, and learning styles Promote continued excellence and growth within the middle school science program Expectations Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based science instruction Establish clear learning objectives for lessons, units, and projects Create a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment Follow all safety procedures related to science activities, equipment, and materials Assess student progress and use data to adjust instruction Integrate technology and online instructional resources into the classroom Maintain accurate records and communicate student progress to students and families Collaborate with the 6th Grade Team and teachers across disciplines to enhance student learning Promote good citizenship, fairness, responsibility, and integrity Demonstrate consistent reliability and preparedness in meeting daily schedules and assigned responsibilities Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school committees as required Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal Additional Information If you would rather apply locally, you may drop off your resume and documentation at: Eastern Greene Middle School 10503 E.
