A Science Teacher teaches in the natural science fields for elementary to secondary school students. Most science courses taught prior to high school are general, with specialization occurring later in high school. Teachers may teach specialized courses in physics, biology or chemistry. Job Description
The instructor's primary responsibility is to instruct classes according to an approved course syllabus using accepted and effective teaching methods. Additional duties include advising and tutoring students, maintaining current and accurate attendance/grade records as well as developing daily lesson plans. Faculty members are also expected to remain current in their teaching field by participating in faculty meetings, instructional seminars and in-services training sessions. Instructors may also be asked to participate in school activities such as advisory board meetings and graduation.
