Job Description:
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Classroom instruction and assessment of student learning in Fire Science course(s). Courses for the Fall 2026 semester include FSC151-63, Fire Prevention offered in-person on Tuesdays from 6:30-9:30pm. Additional courses in the Fire Science curriculum may be available for the Spring 2027 semester.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Provide online instruction utilizing educational technologies, including Moodle. Select and develop appropriate materials and technology for class use. Track and assess student progress related to defined student outcomes. Maintain appropriate attendance and learner records. Participate in ongoing professional development.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
: Master's degree in Fire Science, Emergency Management or closely related discipline. Professional experience in firefighting with extensive experience in the area being taught. Effective pedagogical, teaching, and presentation skills. Experience developing and using multimedia (audio, video, podcasts, etc.) to enhance student engagement in active and collaborative learning. Ability to meet the challenges of a broad curriculum and a student body with diverse abilities, interests, and backgrounds. Ability to relate pedagogically to the needs and interests of students. Experience in using evidence-based strategies to support student success including active and experiential teaching strategies. Equivalent combination of teaching experience, professional experience and education may be considered.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Evidence of innovative use of evolving instructional technologies in the classroom and use of learning management systems. Experience, appreciation, and commitment to working in a global, multicultural academic setting and to the mission and the goals of a community college. Experience teaching Fire Science at the community college level. Experience using Moodle Learning Management System. Willing to participate in future professional development in the effective use of instructional technologies in both in person, HyFlex and distance learning environments. COMPENSATION
: Anticipated starting salary - Step I DCE Pay Scale (currently $4,536 for 3-credit course). Part-time, non-benefited, MCCC Unit Position.
