Job Description

Science Teacher KnightVision Education Maimonides School, a Jewish Day school in Brookline, MA, is hiring a dynamic, creative science teacher who is enthusiastic about working with upper elementary and middle school students.

The focus of our science teaching is on interactive, experiential, and joyful learning that connects to a young learners natural curiosity. We emphasize hands-on inquiry, questioning and proposing solutions, conducting research, and analysis of student findings in all grade levels. Responsibilities You will teach a regular schedule of science classes each week to students in grades 3-8 as part of both our elementary and middle schools. In addition you will Collaborate as part of a team of very strong science teachers, dedicated to vertical integration of curriculum across grades The focus of the science department is on interactive, experiential learning and depth of understanding, rather than breadth of coverage You get tosupport students classroom experiences withfield trips! We are committed to using the city of Boston as an educational resource, so we encourage you tocomplement the curriculumwith "real world experiences" where appropriate Mayserve as an advisor to a group of middle school students Qualifications The successful candidate will bring enthusiasm for developing young learners academic and critical thinking skills while nurturing their social, emotional, and spiritual growth. In addition, you should have: Interest in and experience with curriculum development, and a commitment to innovative pedagogy Educational background in a range of sciences;some background or experience in integrated STEM curriculum is preferred Experience with use of a Maker Space ideal but not essential.
