POSITION TITLE
Fire Science Supplemental Instructor (Basic EMT; Part-Time)
DEPARTMENT
Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Education Programs (STEM-E)
REPORTS TO
Dean of STEM-E POSITION STATUS
This is a Part-Time, non-unit position without benefits.
LOCATION
Primarily Fall River and/or New Bedford, but other campuses also as needed
SALARY:
$30.00/hr
STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Semester Availability
Spring Semester:
4 hours every Saturday morning for 15 weeks
Fall Semester:
4 hours every Saturday morning for 15 weeks
The Fire Science Program at Bristol Community College is seeking a qualified and motivated Basic EMT Instructor Assistant to support instruction in its Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) program. This part-time position works closely with the Lead Instructor to facilitate high-quality EMT education through classroom instruction, skills labs, and realistic scenario-based training. The Instructor Assistant plays a vital role in student learning, skills competency, and program success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Support
Assist with teaching and demonstrating EMT-B curriculum and core skills.
Reinforce course content aligned with the Massachusetts EMT-Basic curriculum, National EMS Education Standards, and program learning outcomes.
Provide hands-on skills instruction, including scenario-based learning and psychomotor skill development, during skill labs and practice sessions.
Provide coaching, tutoring, and guided practice to students.
Model professional EMS behaviors, communication, and clinical decision-making.
Lab Management
Setup, maintain, and break down skills stations.
Manage equipment and supplies to ensure readiness and proper use.
Maintain a safe, organized, and professional learning environment.
Student Support and Evaluation
Observe student performance and provide formative feedback consistent with program standards.
Assist in observing and documenting student progress during labs and simulations.
Provide feedback to the Lead Instructor regarding student readiness, engagement, and areas requiring additional support.
Help facilitate realistic, scenario-based training exercises.
Work Schedule
4 hours every Saturday Morning.
Required availability for both Spring and Fall semesters (15 weeks each).
Others
Maintain appropriate student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and College policies.
Complete required trainings such as, but not limited to, Title IX, FERPA, and Information Security.
Demonstrate a sense of professionalism and consistently reflect Bristol's core values while interacting with members of the Bristol community.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
NOTE:
Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.
Must include the following:
Current Massachusetts EMT Certification in Good Standing. Minimum of 3 years of experience in providing direct patient care.
Demonstrated competency in all NREMT EMT
skills.
Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications.
The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
Reliable transportation to travel to and from meetings, trainings, or campus and community locations as required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Training Current Massachusetts Paramedic Certification
Successful completion of an EMT Instructor Training Course
Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English
