Job Description

We seek an Instructor to collaboratively teach two lectures and/or three lab sections of Medical Microbiology for Healthcare courses for first-year undergraduate students in a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Both lectures and labs are taught in person. The two lecture sections are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm, and on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 pm to 4:15 pm. The three lab sections are on Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 11:15 am, Tuesdays from 1:30 pm- 2:45 pm, and on Thursdays from 10:00 am to 11:15 am. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Develop and teach the assigned course components in a way that is appropriate for first-year undergraduate students in a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Incorporate active learning approaches and technology into course presentations. Assess student performance in accordance with best practices in teaching and learning. Maintain a schedule of classes. Post and maintain office hours and be responsive to student queries. Utilize Canvas as the learning management system. Grade lecture and/or lab assignments, projects, and assessments within appropriate time frames. Inform the Dean of Nursing in a timely manner of any problems encountered. Advise the Dean of one's absence in a timely manner. Keep accurate student attendance according to established procedures. Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience A Master's degree or higher in biology or a related discipline is required. Previous experience teaching undergraduate Medical Microbiology or traditional Microbiology is required; experience teaching the course to healthcare students, particularly nursing, is strongly preferred.
