Location:
Swampscott, MA Position Overview. Join a team where community comes first. Swampscott High School is looking for a dedicated Physics(e.g.) Teacher to help us uphold our commitment to academic excellence, create meaningful opportunities for students, and strengthen our collaborative school community. In this role, you will design and implement high-quality, inquiry-based instruction that meets the diverse needs of all learners. Because our students and colleagues rely on a stable and predictable learning environment, punctuality and consistent, reliable attendance are essential to the success of this role. Guided by the district's C.O.R.E. values (Community, Opportunity, Respect, and Equity), you will foster a safe, respectful classroom culture and collaborate with families and staff to ensure every student is prepared for success in college, career, and citizenship. Essential Functions
Instructional Leadership:
Design and deliver authentic, inquiry-based learning experiences across all levels of physics, utilizing data-driven strategies and the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
Professional Reliability:
Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality to ensure instructional continuity and the effective supervision and safety of all students.
Inclusive Excellence:
Implement culturally responsive and differentiated practices that promote a sense of belonging and provide equitable access for a diverse student body.
Collaboration:
Maintain a collegial work ethic, participating in team planning and proactive, two-way communication with families and school leadership. Required Qualifications
Licensure:
Valid Massachusetts Educator License in Physics (9-12).
SEI Endorsement:
Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Teacher Endorsement is required.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (Master's Degree preferred).
Compliance:
Citizenship, residency, or valid work visa required; successful completion of CORI and fingerprinting background checks.
Personal Attributes:
Strong academic background in physics, a sense of humor, enthusiasm for science education, and a willingness to connect with students. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching AP Physics courses. Dual certification or experience in Robotics, Computer Science, or Chemistry. Proficiency in educational technology and collaborative platforms.
Physical Requirements:
This position may require long periods of standing, walking, and sitting; talking or hearing in person and by telephone; using hands to feel, handle, or finger objects or controls; and reaching with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The individual may be exposed to ultraviolet lights, as are found in computer monitors and copying equipment. The individual may be exposed to various hazards in the building. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
