The Science Teacher fosters a love of learning that encourages student curiosity, engagement, and growth in a welcoming community of learners. Classes include College Prep, Honors, and Advanced Placement levels. Our science program follows the DESE grade-level curriculum standards and utilizes a variety of resources as instructional materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor's and/or Master's degree from an accredited college/university in a related field

Professional Certification Required:

MA DESE license in 9-12 Science SEI Endorsement Additional certification in special education and/or ESL highly desirable AP Certification preferred

Specialized Knowledge:

adolescent development, curriculum frameworks, growth mindset, inclusive practices, cultural proficiency, anti-bias instruction, co-teaching, social-emotional learning, technology integration

CORI, SORI and Fingerprinting:

All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI, SORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00.

Preferred Experience:

Experience teaching English Language Learners and in a diverse public school setting Experience with students with special needs, including students with emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges Strong background in science instruction Demonstrated skills in effectively and appropriately integrating technology into lesson design Highly desirable to have experience with:

): Provide learning experiences across all subject areas as guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards and requirements, while creating an environment that is conducive to student learning and engagement. Monitor students' understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusts instruction, materials, or assessments when appropriate Evaluate and refine instructional practice and assessment strategies to increase student learning, engagement, and confidence Participate in professional development activities and meets district expectations for licensure recertification Participates in all faculty and committee meetings as required, and district-wide committees as needed Any other relative duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Science Teacher does not have supervisory responsibilities for other staff, except to direct any paraeducators who may be assigned to his/her/their classroom.
