Part Time IB Science Teacher

The Calverton School is seeking a part-time Upper School Science Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This role offers the opportunity to teach a selection of engaging science courses, which may include IB Environmental Systems and Societies, IB Sports, Exercise and Health Science, Earth Science, and/or Physical Science . We are looking for an educator who brings both content expertise and energy to the classroom , and who values building meaningful connections with students. Key Responsibilities Teach 2-3 sections of Upper School Science (grades 9-12), depending on course offerings and schedule Design and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons that incorporate lab work, field experiences, and inquiry-based learning Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners and support a range of learning styles Foster a positive, inclusive classroom community grounded in strong relationships with students and families Assess student learning using a variety of methods, including project-based assessments, and provide timely, constructive feedback Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and interdisciplinary opportunities Participate in departmental and divisional meetings , as appropriate for a part-time role Contribute to the broader life of the school through select events, field trips, or student activities Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Science, Science Education, or a related field (master's preferred) Experience teaching high school science (1-2 years preferred) Broad content knowledge in areas such as biology, environmental science, earth science, and basic physics and chemistry Enthusiasm for working with upper school students and supporting their academic and personal growth Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines Collaborative mindset and clear, effective communication with students, families, and colleagues Comfort with integrating technology into instruction Additional Information Experience with or interest in field-based learning and experiential education is a plus Training for International Baccalaureate (IB) courses will be provided, if needed Candidates must successfully complete required background checks, including MSDE Employment History Review
