The Chemistry Department is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to work closely with supervising faculty to teach laboratory sections in courses including introductory and organic chemistry. Responsibilities include experimental design, laboratory preparation (the generation of laboratory handouts, assembling chemicals, maintaining equipment/instrumentation, and providing for the collection and disposal of all laboratory waste), presenting pre-lab lectures, supervising laboratory sections, scaffolding exploratory student mini-projects, supervising student assistants, providing guidance about data analysis and scientific writing, and grading pre-lab assignments and laboratory reports. This is a full time, academic year position that has a two year appointment. The hiring range for this position is expected to be: $60,000-65,000 BENEFITS

Education/Skills Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required in a chemistry or biochemistry field Excellent oral and written communications skills Strong organizational skills and problem-solving abilities Ability to provide individual and group instruction with sensitivity to different learning styles. The successful candidate will be able to integrate into a cohort of Lab Instructors in Chemistry and Biochemistry. Experience Requirements and/or
Equivalents:
1-3 years of experience required teaching labs using laboratory equipment and techniques. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications in this posting to be considered for hire.
Standard Work Days and Hours:
Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:30pm Some weekends or evening hours may be required. This is an exempt position requiring the time commitment necessary to successfully complete job requirements. This is a full time position during the academic year (0.81 FTE, 40hrs/42 weeks) This is a two-year appointment We regret that Bowdoin College is unable to provide visa sponsorship for staff positions.
