Mountain Valley Middle School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated 7th Grade Science Teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. This is an exciting opportunity to engage students in hands-on learning, encourage scientific inquiry, and help young adolescents develop a lifelong appreciation for science within a supportive and collaborative school community. Responsibilities Design and deliver engaging, standards-based science instruction that promotes inquiry, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Develop and implement interactive lesson plans aligned with state standards and curriculum expectations. Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that supports student learning, engagement, and well-being. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of learners. Incorporate hands-on investigations, laboratory experiences, demonstrations, and technology to deepen students' understanding of scientific concepts. Use a variety of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and provide meaningful feedback that supports growth. Collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff to ensure student success and contribute to a strong professional learning community. Participate actively in school-wide initiatives and continuous improvement efforts. Preferred Qualifications Valid Maine teaching certification (or eligibility for certification) in Science. Strong understanding of middle school learners and effective instructional practices. Commitment to fostering positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Experience with or familiarity with the Building Assets, Reducing Risks (BARR) framework is preferred and considered a strong asset.
