QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate secondary science endorsement(s) required. Strong understanding of the Michigan Science Standards (MSS) and inquiry-based instructional practices Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate laboratory, investigative, and hands-on learning experiences Experience utilizing technology, digital learning tools, and instructional software to support student learning Experience with or willingness to implement Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), differentiated instruction, and intervention practices Commitment to Capturing Kids' Hearts (CKH) and relationship-centered educational practices Strong classroom management, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and executive functioning needs Willingness to participate in district-provided training opportunities, including CPI, CPR/First Aid, and district instructional initiatives Required knowledge of skills and abilities related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural competence Knowledge of one's own competence in the area of diversity and equity, how this influences behavior, and a desire to learn about others' identities and experiences ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and deliver engaging, standards-aligned science instruction consistent with Michigan Science Standards and district curriculum expectations Design and facilitate laboratory, inquiry-based, project-based, and hands-on learning experiences that promote scientific thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application Utilize a variety of instructional strategies including direct instruction, collaborative learning, small-group intervention, and technology-enhanced learning experiences Establish and maintain classroom routines, expectations, and procedures consistent with district and building practices Support and implement the tenets of Capturing Kids' Hearts (CKH) and relationship-centered classroom practices Utilize a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework and differentiated instructional practices to meet varying student needs Use assessment data to monitor student progress, identify learning gaps, and implement targeted interventions Establish clear learning targets, success criteria, and performance expectations for students Maintain safe laboratory environments and ensure adherence to all safety procedures and protocols Observe and evaluate student performance, behavior, social development, and engagement and communicate progress with families and staff as needed Collaborate with colleagues, interventionists, special education staff, counselors, and administrators to support student success Implement IEPs, 504 Plans, intervention plans, accommodations, and modifications with fidelity Support students with varying academic, behavioral, social-emotional, executive functioning, and regulatory needs, including students who may demonstrate disruptive, dysregulated, unsafe, or escalated behaviors Implement classroom management, de-escalation, and student support strategies aligned with district practices and training Respond calmly, safely, and appropriately to student behavioral escalation or crisis situations Utilize technology and digital instructional tools as an integral component of instructional delivery, assessment, communication, documentation, and professional responsibilities Monitor student progress, maintain accurate attendance and grade records, and communicate student achievement through district systems Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), staff meetings, professional development activities, and continuous improvement initiatives Perform additional duties as assigned ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
