St. Francis High School (SFHS) is seeking a 1.0 FTE Family and Consumer Science Teacher for the upcoming school year with a focus on strong emphasis on developing our Foods/Nutrition class. It is required that an applicant hold a Grade 7-12 Family and Consumer Science license through the Minnesota Department of Education. Applicant needs a background in teaching and working with students in the Family and Consumer Science field. In addition, candidates should also possess excellent communication skills with students, parents and staff. Candidates must have a current FCS teaching license (function code 090101) or hospitality service (300600) or a relevant industry certification/license, degree, or five years of industry experience related to culinary/hospitality services. Please note that we are open to someone who has experience in the Food Industry. The FCS department offers courses related to food preparation, human development, and relationships, and the program has brand new industrial kitchens.Here are some potential courses:
Some courses currently taught in our FCS program are Discovery Foods, World of Foods and Foods for Life. We also have classes that focus on child development.Summary of Duties:
Create and implement lesson plans for FACS classes with a strong emphasis on developing our Foods/Nutrition classes. Focus on student growth in the classroom and community. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff. Create an engaging and respectful learning environment.Job Description:
