Job Description

Definition Cape Fear Community College is seeking a qualified adjunct instructor to support the Medical Sonography Program through part-time instruction in didactic, laboratory, and/or clinical settings. This position plays a key role in preparing students for entry-level sonography practice by delivering high-quality instruction aligned with program and accreditation standards.
Supervision Received and exercised:
Receives general supervision from the Medical Sonography Program Director.
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
Provide didactic, laboratory, and/or clinical instruction as assigned by the Program Director Prepare for each instructional session to ensure effective delivery of course content Utilize a variety of teaching methods and strategies to support diverse learning styles Implement learning activities that promote achievement of course student learning outcomes Maintain a safe, organized, and professional learning environment Supervise and evaluate student performance in lab and/or clinical settings, as assigned Maintain accurate and timely student records, attendance, and grades in accordance with college policies Provide timely feedback on assignments, exams, and clinical/lab performance Communicate with the Program Director regarding student progress, concerns, and course needs Maintain confidentiality of student records and academic information Ensure familiarity with and adherence to program policies, procedures, and accreditation standards (CAAHEP/JRC-DMS) Maintain current professional credentials and clinical competency in sonography Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
Knowledge of:
Classroom, lab and/or clinical instructional techniques and procedures . Ability to effectively engage students using a variety of instructional techniques Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and program leadership Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines Demonstrates professionalism, flexibility, and a commitment to student success Be familiar with standards and guidelines required by accrediting agencies Ability to: Analyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions aligned with program goals Operate and instruct students in the use of sonographic equipment Guide students in developing independent judgment to obtain optimal diagnostic images Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing Establish and maintain professional working relationships with students, faculty, and clinical partners Interpret and apply CFCC policies, procedures, and program standards
Maintain:
Visual and auditory acuity required for observation, instruction, communication, and equipment operation Physical capability to perform assigned duties, including standing or sitting for extended periods, operating equipment, and lifting up to 50 pounds Mental capacity to make sound decisions, respond appropriately, and demonstrate critical thinking skills
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Minimum Education/Training:
Associate's degree Current ARDMS credentials in Abdomen (AB) and Obstetrics/Gynecology (OB/GYN) Minimum of two (2) years full-time clinical experience as a registered sonographer Must be credentialed by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills:
Prior teaching, lab instruction, or clinical precepting experience Experience working with students in a clinical or educational setting Additional Vascular (RVT) credential preferred Special Instructions to
