Teach middle and secondary school science courses (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Earth Science) following state and national science standards (e.g., Next Generation Science Standards
  • NGSS).
Develop and implement science lesson plans and laboratory experiments aligned with curriculum requirements. Prepare materials and classrooms for hands-on lab activities, ensuring student safety and adherence to laboratory protocols. Administer, grade, and analyze formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and modify instruction accordingly. Utilize educational technology, including smart boards, digital science tools, lab simulation software, and interactive platforms, to support student learning. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to accommodate diverse learning needs, including students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and English Language Learners (ELLs). Manage classroom and laboratory safety, ensuring students follow safety procedures during hands-on experiments. Integrate STEM-based inquiry learning, encouraging students to engage in scientific investigation, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving. Organize and lead science-related extracurricular activities, such as science fairs, field trips, and STEM clubs. Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and laboratory work, and communicate progress to parents, guardians, and school administrators. Participate in professional development workshops, training, and curriculum planning meetings to stay updated on best teaching practices.
Job Requirements:
Requires a Bachelors degree in Education, Science Education, or a related field and one-year of related experience. Must have some experience in each of the following skills: Science Instruction & Lab Work
  • Teaching secondary-level science, including designing and conducting lab experiments. Curriculum Development
  • Creating science curricula aligned with NGSS and state standards. Assessment & Data Analysis
  • Administering, grading, and analyzing student assessments to improve instruction. Educational Technology
  • Using digital tools, lab simulations, and interactive platforms for science instruction. Lab Safety Management
  • Implementing and enforcing laboratory safety protocols. Differentiated Instruction
  • Adapting teaching for students with IEPs, 504 Plans, and ELLs. STEM & Inquiry-Based Learning
  • Incorporating STEM teaching strategies and inquiry-based methods.
Eligible for NM State teaching certificate applicable to K-8 elementary education.
