Salary:
Placement on the salary schedule will be based on educational level and
teaching experience.

General Job Description:
Instruct students in grades 11 and 12 in science utilizing the course of study approved by the Board of Education and aligned to Ohio's Learning Standards.
Plan and direct learning activities and evaluate the learning experience of students.
Teach science concepts in a way that connects to career-technical programs, real-world applications, problem solving, and workplace readiness.
Create a positive, respectful classroom environment where students are expected to participate, complete quality work, and grow as young adults.
Use a variety of instructional strategies, including direct instruction, labs, demonstrations, technology, projects, discussion, and small-group support to meet the needs of all learners.
Assess student progress through assignments, labs, tests, projects, presentations, and other appropriate measures; provide timely feedback to students and families when needed.
Maintain accurate lesson plans, grades, attendance records, and documentation required by the school, district, and state.
Work cooperatively with academic teachers, career-technical instructors, intervention specialists, counselors, administration, and support staff to help students succeed.
Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate accommodations, modifications, and supports for students with IEPs, 504 plans, and other learning needs.
Prepare students for required assessments, graduation requirements, career readiness expectations, and success after high school.
Communicate professionally with students, parents/guardians, staff, administration, and community partners.
Support the mission of Jefferson County JVS by promoting student responsibility, employability skills, good attendance, professionalism, and pride in the school.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Ohio teaching license in Science, Integrated Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science, or other appropriate high school science licensure.
Ability to work effectively with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
Successful completion of all background checks and employment requirements.
Essential Functions:

Participate in staff meetings, conferences, and other required school activities.
Maintain accurate records and submit reports on time.
Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information and demonstrate a respect for personal privacy.
Report suspected child abuse and/or neglect to administrators and serve as a positive role model for others.
Strive to develop rapport with students, staff, and administration and serve as a positive role model for others.
Maintain a professional appearance. Dress in work attire appropriate for the position/situation.
Promote a professional image of the school district. Encourage community partnerships, which enhance district programs.
Uphold board policies and follow administrative guidelines/procedures. Refer policy interpretation inquiries to administrative staff.
