Job Description
The 7th Grade Science Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, standards-based science instruction that promotes student learning, critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and problem-solving skills. The teacher fosters a positive learning environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional development of middle school students while aligning instruction with Ohio's Learning Standards and district curriculum. Responsibilities Plan and deliver effective science instruction aligned with Ohio Learning Standards. Develop and implement lessons that incorporate scientific inquiry, experimentation, and hands-on learning experiences. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments and use data to guide instruction. Maintain accurate and timely student records, grades, and progress reports. Create and maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment. Integrate technology and instructional resources to enhance student learning. Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and administrators regarding student progress and classroom activities. Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development, instructional improvement, and student success. Participate in professional development and district initiatives. Supervise students in classrooms and assigned duties to ensure safety and appropriate behavior. Adhere to all district policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations. Required and Preferred Qualifications Required Qualifications Valid Ohio teaching license appropriate for middle school science instruction. Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, or a related field from an accredited institution. Knowledge of Ohio Learning Standards and best practices in middle school instruction. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills. Successful completion of all pre-employment requirements established by the district and the State of Ohio. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience teaching middle school science. Experience utilizing inquiry-based and project-based learning strategies. Knowledge of STEM education practices and technology integration. Experience working with diverse student populations and differentiated instructional methods. Physical Demands Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom and school environment for extended periods. Ability to sit, bend, kneel, reach, and lift instructional materials and equipment up to 25 pounds. Ability to operate standard office and educational technology equipment. Ability to supervise students in classrooms, laboratories, hallways, cafeterias, and outdoor settings. Ability to communicate effectively in person and through various communication platforms. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in a classroom, laboratory, and school environment. Regular interaction with students, parents, staff, and community members. Exposure to typical classroom and laboratory materials and equipment. May be required to supervise students during non-instructional times and school-sponsored activities. Work schedule follows the adopted school calendar and contractual workday. Responsibilities may require flexibility to meet student, building, and district needs. Apply Now
