Job Description:
The Department of Communication Science and Disorders (CSD) within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences is seeking a part-time instructor for the course
CSD 2084
•SCIENCE
OF IMPLANTABLES.
The part time instructor is needed to teach one, 2-credit course at the graduate-level focusing on implantable hearing technology. The responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to) providing instruction in this topic area once per week throughout the summer term for two hours per week, responding to student emails related to the course, and holding a one-hour office hour per week for the duration of the term. Part-time instructors also may be asked to attend departmental meetings. The course focuses on the underlying physiology and psychoacoustics that contribute to the development and implementation of electrical and bone conducted stimulation as an input to the hearing system. A historical perspective will inform current research and clinical application in this area. Students will leave this course able to compare and contrast current signal processing strategies used in implantable devices. In addition, students will be able to critically evaluate future signal processing strategies in a patient-center manner based on the underlying knowledge provided through this course. The syllabus will be consistent with SHRS and CSD standards. Course content, assessment, and instructional mode will be consistent with the curriculum and accreditation requirements and will be guided by the Program Director to ensure the appropriateness of the content.
