Primary Purpose:
To provide students with rigorous and engaging instruction in Physics that fosters scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of physical science concepts aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate in Science 7-12 or Physical Science/Physics 6-12 Demonstrated competency in Physics and instructional best practices Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in Physics that align with district curriculum and TEKS Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the learning needs of all students Integrate lab experiences, demonstrations, and hands-on learning opportunities Design and administer assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly Maintain a safe, organized, and inquiry-based classroom environment Incorporate technology to support instruction and enhance student engagement Provide academic support through tutorials and intervention as needed Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff Participate in departmental and campus professional development and planning Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and other required documentation Perform other duties as assigned by the campus principal or designee
Working Conditions:
Classroom and laboratory setting May require occasional lifting of equipment or materials up to 25 pounds Frequent standing, walking, and demonstration of lab techniques Exposure to lab chemicals and equipment following proper safety procedures
  • Salary is commensurate with experience
  • Minimum Salary $66,000 for fully certified teachers
  • Works 187 Day Calendar
  • Please note that this role requires in-person attendance and is not eligible for remote work.
Sheldon ISD will accept applications for this position through April 13, 2026. After this date, applications will continue to be accepted in the event a suitable candidate is not identified.
