The University of Alaska Anchorage's Physics & Astronomy Department is seeking an enthusiastic Term Instructor or Term Assistant Professor of Physics for a full-time, on-campus position beginning Fall 2026. This role offers the opportunity to teach hands-on, in-person laboratory experiences and engage directly with students in a dynamic, accessible classroom setting.
In this role, the ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and teaching lab courses in a manner consistent with the specific course content descriptions; developing and modifying curriculum and teaching modalities; engaging in student learning and curricular assessment activities and holding office hours. Workload will include undergraduate courses. Undergraduate courses will include entry-level Physics courses.

To thrive in this role candidate should possess strong interpersonal andmunication skills, ability to teach core and specialized courses in the department's curriculum, demonstrated potential to support and mentor students, demonstratedmitment to student success, and, knowledge of innovative teaching practice.
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Physics or closely related field by the time of appointment. Disciplinary expertise in Physics. Evidence of potential for excellence in teaching at the college/university level.Preferred Experience:
Evidence of effective teaching across modalities, including in-person formats, experience teaching or working in an open-access, public university, experience or demonstrated potential in contributing to interdisciplinary programs, knowledge of regional issues ormunities relevant to the institution's mission (e.g., Circumpolar North, Alaska Nativemunities, rural engagement).Position Details:
This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a full-time, 9 month based, term funded faculty positionplete with both apetitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generouspensation package that includes retirement options, faculty time off, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. Faculty salaries are based on a variety of factors, including education and experience. Review of applications will begin on 04/07/2026.
