Full Time Instructor - Computer Science The Blinn College District is searching for a Full Time Instructor - Computer Science at our Brenham Campus and RELLIS Campus. Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below: Job Summary To perform the day-to-day operations of the instructional program. To teach courses as scheduled. Principal Accountabilities Provides instruction for courses at a variety of times and locations as needed Demonstrates a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence Maintains access to students through posted office hours and electronic communication Prepares and utilizes a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the institution Maintains current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilizes a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources Advises students in academic matters Evaluates students' performance through a variety of means to measure progress and keep them informed in a timely manner Assists in the development, distribution, and collection of assessments for courses and program objectives Provides recommendations to the Academic Dean, Assistant Dean, Department Head, and Curriculum Resource Team regarding curriculum Demonstrates a positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the community Submits timely college reports and forms to the appropriate divisions/departments Exhibits a commitment to lifelong learning through participation in professional development activities Engages in collegial activities and service activities across the department, division, and college Possesses a passion for teaching community college students Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written and orally Attends college orientation and required institutional meetings Responsible for other related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications Master's degree or higher with at least 18 graduate hours in computer science. All coursework must be from an accredited college or university. Teaching Experience in Computer Science or highly related field (either at the college or secondary level) required. Minimum Competencies Clearly explaining concepts, active listening, and providing constructive, immediate feedback. Creating a positive, safe, and collaborative learning environment that encourages student participation and self-management. Maintaining subject-matter expertise, engaging in continuous professional development, and demonstrating cultural competence. Preferred Qualifications College teaching experience. Online teaching experience. Digital game design / development experience. Preferred Competencies In addition to a Master's degree in Computer Science, a Master's degree or 18 graduate-level hours in either Information Technology or Engineering. Blinn College pays 100% of health insurance for full-time employees, 50% for dependents, and two times your annual salary in life insurance benefits.
