The instructor will deliver live classes, maintain course content in Canvas, facilitate Biology learning activities and labs, grade student work, monitor academic progress, and provide student support. This is a remote, part-time 1099 independent contractor opportunity. Primary Responsibilities Deliver scheduled live virtual Biology classes. Teach Biology concepts aligned with the school's established curriculum and course expectations. Facilitate lessons and learning activities as assigned. Work collaboratively with the Lead Biology Teacher to prepare for weekly instruction. Maintain and organize weekly content and assignments in Canvas. Provide clear instructions, learning activities, and resources for students. Develop and facilitate virtual or home-based Biology labs and investigations when appropriate. Grade assignments, assessments, labs, and other student work in a timely manner. Maintain current grades and student progress records. Provide scheduled virtual office hours and academic support. Monitor student participation, assignment completion, and academic progress. Communicate concerns regarding struggling or disengaged students. Provide appropriate feedback to students and families. Participate in required faculty meetings, training, and collaborative planning. Record live classes and make recordings available according to HomeSTEM procedures. Collaborate with HomeSTEM leadership and instructional staff. Maintain professional and timely communication with students, families, and the Academy.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Life Science, Science Education, or a related field. Strong knowledge of high school Biology. Ability to explain complex scientific concepts in a student-friendly manner. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable teaching in a virtual environment. Ability to use or learn Canvas, Google Workspace, Zoom/Google Meet, and other educational technology. Reliable computer and high-speed internet connection. Strong organization and time-management skills.
