Job Description

Teach a full-time load of five classes per 16-week Fall and Spring semester. Assist in development and maintenance of curriculum. Counsel and advise students to assist them in obtaining their educational goals. Master's Degree from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education required with a m inimum of eighteen graduate credits in Government, with coursework that aligns with government classes offered by CTC . Prefer Ph.D. or equivalent degree and/or professional work experience in the field. Prefer three years of teaching experience at college-level.
Must be computer literate:
to include ability to handle e-mail, downloading, and internet. Knowledge and proficiency in Blackboard or other LMS and a good working knowledge of MS Office, or similar software. Effective classroom management and student engagement skills. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff. Demonstrated ability to teach subject matter through education, experience, and skills. Commitment to working with diverse and under prepared student populations. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Conducting classroom instruction at the highest possible level of efficiency and interest for students. Integrate reading, writing, and critical thinking strategies to promote academic literacy. Utilize instructional technology and the learning management system (LMS) for course delivery and communication. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress in compliance with college policies; submit certification rolls require by the Central Texas College Registrar office by submission due date. Communicate regularly with students regarding course expectations, progress, and resources. Attend departmental staff meetings. Meet all regularly scheduled classes on time and for the full class period and maintain office hours. Maintain accurate and complete records on each student and submit required certification rolls by the required deadline. Participate in orientation meetings, staff development workshops, and faculty meetings relevant to assigned duties. Ensure that the general and specific objectives defined in the syllabus are accomplished. Prepare and administer examinations that cover all materials taught and provide prompt feedback on exam results. Demonstrate effective class management, providing maximum opportunity for student progress. Demonstrate organization and development of materials for course presentation, utilizing syllabi and textbooks approved by department. Ensure the course objectives, as defined in the syllabus, are accomplished. Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Dean.
