Job Description
Specific duties include:
Curriculum Delivery:
Teach Physics courses, which may include Foundations of Physics, AP Physics, or other specialized science courses, utilizing an engaging, content-rich, and effective instructional approach.Student Engagement:
Foster a classroom environment that encourages intellectual curiosity, scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and a deep appreciation for the natural sciences.Assessment and Feedback:
Develop and administer robust assessments to monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback to students and parents.Laboratory Instruction:
Design and oversee hands-on, inquiry-based laboratory experiments and activities that reinforce theoretical concepts and teach proper lab safety and techniques.Founding Team Collaboration:
Play a pivotal role in establishing the school's culture, contributing to school-wide initiatives, and collaborating with fellow founding teachers to create a cohesive and supportive academic community.Professional Development:
Actively participate in professional learning opportunities and school-wide meetings, continually seeking to improve instructional practices.Student Support:
Serve as an advisor or mentor, guiding students in their academic and personal growth within the BASIS model. Qualifications A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major or significant coursework in Physics or a related scientific field (e.g., Materials Science, Engineering). A Master's degree is highly desirable. Prior teaching experience in Physics at the middle and/or high school level is strongly preferred. Experience teaching advanced placement (AP) or honors-level courses is a significant asset. A profound passion for the subject matter and an ability to convey complex concepts in a clear, compelling, and engaging manner. Exceptional classroom management skills and an ability to create an organized, highly focused, and positive learning environment. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. A collaborative spirit and a commitment to working as part of a dynamic, founding team.
