Aug 1, 2026 Job Description Green Mountain Valley School (GMVS), is an independent boarding/day school seeking a part-time science teacher, with experience teaching chemistry, beginning in August of 2026. Candidates for this position should be excited to teach high school students, with a particular focus on 10th grade Chemistry. Our curriculum follows a traditional curriculum sequence, in a nontraditional environment. Candidates should be able to use technology effectively to support student learning and engagement, and be interested in ongoing professional growth. Candidates must be equally comfortable in the classroom as they are working one-on-one with students, supporting students remotely, and they should be accessible and proactive in providing extra-help. A commitment to professional development and student-centered learning are expected. Responsibilities include teaching two sections of chemistry and supporting a diverse range of students' needs and schedules. The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to differentiate within each classroom, as well as design distance learning units. Successful candidates will be team-oriented, possess strong communication skills, be organized and flexible. In addition to teaching responsibilities, faculty members are fully involved in the co-curricular programs of the school. Candidates should be able to work collaboratively with other teachers, coaches and student-athletes, have a valid driver's license, and meet the professional requirements of the state and school, including passing a state background check. A Bachelor's Degree and prior teaching experience at the secondary school level are required. A Master's Degree and independent school experience are preferred. As one of the country's premiere ski academies, GMVS develops students with a life-long love of learning, sport, and adventure. Green Mountain Valley School is a boarding and day school in Waitsfield, VT serving 130 students in grades 7-PG.
