Science Teacher - Milwaukee Youth Facility Job ID20914 Location Milwaukee Agency Corrections Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Classification Code58200 Classification TitleTeacher Introduction The Department of Corrections, Division of Juvenile Corrections, is focused on public safety through the custody and supervision of youth placed in our care. Juvenile Corrections employees have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of youth through careers in a variety of fields. The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Science Teacher position, located at the new Juvenile Type 1 Facility, located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Position Summary This position will develop and implement a program of educational services specific to the assessed Career and Technical Education (CTE) needs of the male and/or female juvenile offender population. The teacher will provide individual and group instruction; will evaluate student progress; and will prescribe necessary remediation and/or academic support services. The teacher will also complete all required documentation related to student assessment and related reports; will evaluate academic records in a timely manner; will monitor and manage student behavior; and will attend relevant institutional staffings/meetings. Salary Information This position is in pay schedule and range 13-04 a starting rate of $30.00/hour - $35.06/hour, plus excellent benefits. This position may receive supplemental pay, up to $2.97/hr., for additional credits relevant to the position that are over and above the credits needed for certification. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required. Job Details Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting. Our Teachers work twelve months out of the year.
Qualifications Special Requirement:
Certification as a Teacher; Grades 4-12 or PK-12,by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and certification in one of the following: # 2600 General Science, #1601 Broad Field Science, #1605 Biology/Life Science,, #1636 Environmental Studies.
