About Kids 4 College Kids 4 College is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing high-quality after-school enrichment programs that promote academic success, leadership, creativity, and healthy development. We are seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and motivated individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children. Position Summary The After-School Program Counselor is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for elementary-aged students during after-school hours. Counselors provide homework assistance, facilitate STEAM and enrichment activities, supervise outdoor recreation, and serve as positive role models while ensuring student safety and well-being, and amplifying youth voice and leadership. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supervise and actively engage groups of elementary-aged students. Provide homework assistance and academic support. Plan and lead STEM, arts, recreation, and enrichment activities. Organize outdoor games and physical activities. Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. Promote positive behavior using program expectations. Monitor student attendance and ensure accurate documentation. Communicate professionally with parents, school personnel, and coworkers. Follow all Kids 4 College, school district, and licensing policies and procedures. Attend required staff meetings and training sessions. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. College coursework in Education, Child Development, Recreation, or a related field is preferred. Experience working with elementary-aged children in an educational, recreational, or youth development setting is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead activities and manage groups of children. Dependable, organized, energetic, and professional. Preferred Qualifications CPR and First Aid Certification, Mandated Reporter, Suicide Awareness and Prevention (or willingness to obtain). Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Experience in STEM, arts, sports, or youth enrichment programming is highly desirable. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and actively supervise children for extended periods. Ability to participate in outdoor activities and recreational games. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Schedule Monday through Friday Approximately 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. (hours may vary by school site) Additional hours may be available during school breaks, minimum days, and summer programs.
