Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9:00 AM-2:00 PM (option for up to 5 days)
Pay:
20 an hour•negotiable depending on experience and ideas.
Job description:
Roots Academy of Brooksville is a microschool where kids learn by doing—hands in the soil, out in the fresh air. We're looking for a warm, hands-on Nature Assistant to lead small groups of students (9-13 years old) and share real life skills. This is a great fit for homesteaders with skills in one or more of the following area•farming, permaculture, gardening, clean cooking, herbalism, animal care, woodworking, beekeeping, etc. What you'll do: Lead small, hands-on groups of curious kids in an outdoor learning setting Plan and run engaging, age-appropriate activities rooted in nature and homesteading Share your craft—gardening, cooking, herbalism, animal care, and more Help create a safe, joyful, real-childhood experience for students What we're looking for: Experience working with children (required) Hands-on experience in one or more areas: natural/foraged cooking, herbal salves & balms, beekeeping, flower & pollinator gardens, permaculture, vegetable & herb gardening, composting, seed saving, backyard chickens & animal care, soap & candle making, sourdough/fermentation/canning, or nature crafts & fiber arts Reliable, warm, and comfortable leading small groups outdoors. May also be needed to help students complete activities from their reading/writing groups if needed.
