This role is responsible for teaching dive skills and water safety to individual participants at a variety of levels. Serving over 20,000 active youth, adult, and family members, the West Branch of the Treasure Valley Family YMCA helps members lead a healthier, happier life. Facility amenities and features include six fitness studios, three racquetball courts, full-court basketball gym, youth activity center, climbing wall, 50-meter swimming pool, and training pool.
Responsibilities:
Fulfill all job requires from Dive Coach Job description. Provide individual dive lessons focused on the development skills for the participant. Communicate with supervisor, staff, members, guests, and volunteers in a clear, concise and positive manner while using Listen First skills. Build relationships with members, participants and volunteers. Promote teamwork and cooperative effort. Maintain a clean, safe work area, practice good safety habits.
Qualifications:
At least Two years' experience coaching diving at a club, high school or collegiate level preferred, other experience coaching or working with Youth considered. Must be able to differentiate between colors (red, yellow, blue and green) for swim test necklaces. Experience teaching dives and techniques related to competitive diving, or willingness to learn from experienced peer coaches. Gymnastics coaching experience is directly transferrable. Experience in analyzing diving performance and identifying areas needed for improvement, or willingness to learn. Knowledge in current training methods of all aspects of competitive diving, or willingness to learn.
REQUIRED LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Basic Life Support - Prerequisite of hire with 14-day grace period to obtain. First Aid - Prerequisite of hire with 14-day grace period to obtain. Oxygen - Prerequisite of hire with 14-day grace period to obtain. Y Swim Instructor- Prerequisite of hire with 14-day grace period to obtain. Certification attesting to Safe Sports Training completion within 14 days of hire.
Schedule:
This is a part-time position averaging up to 15 hours weekly. Schedule requirements are Monday through Friday, 4:30pm-7:30pm. There is flexibility for schedule to be Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday but Monday through Friday is preferred availability.
