Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic team as a Tumbling & Gymnastics Instructor, where you will inspire and motivate students of ages 1 to 5 years to develop their beginner tumbling and gymnastics skills in a lively, energetic environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to foster physical development, build confidence, and promote healthy lifestyles through engaging instruction and positive reinforcement. As a key member of our recreation community, you will create a safe, fun, and inclusive space for learners to thrive and achieve their personal best. Morning Weekday Classes are available beginning with our Fall 2026 class schedule. Some class coverage may also currently be available as needed. Responsibilities Lead engaging tumbling and gymnastics classes tailored to age groups 1 - 5 Demonstrate proper techniques for climbing, crawling, somersaults, handstand & bridge while ensuring safety protocols are followed Manage behavior effectively to maintain a positive learning environment that encourages participation and confidence Provide personalized feedback to students to help them improve skills and reach their goals Ensure all equipment is used safely and maintained in excellent condition Collaborate with parents and guardians to communicate progress and address any concerns Skills / Qualifications Must be at least 16 years of age. Prior experience teaching children ages 1 - 5 a plus. Experience in leading or participating in tumbling or gymnastics setting. Experience in teaching skills including climbing, crawling, somersaults, hand stand & bridge. Demonstrated maturity, reliability, initiative and responsibility. Ability to provide excellent guest service and the ability to positively interact with guests on a daily basis. Supervision Under the general direction of the Dance Coordinator and Recreation Services Manager, the individual must be self-motivated and capable of initiating and developing tasks on a regular basis. The individual will perform projects assigned. The employee is responsible for prioritizing work tasks, and for identifying and utilizing the appropriate resources to resolve a problem or situation and/or research and analyze specific data. Guidance is provided through departmental policies, Park District operating practices and procedures, and other resources as applicable to the specific project assigned. Work is evaluated at least annually, with respect to problem-solving ability, customer service, research and analytical skills, written and verbal communication skills, and performance in accordance with this classification standard.

Pay:
$28.57 - $42.86 per hour
