Role:
Love building, creating, and working with kids? Join Brooklyn Robot Foundry as a Lead Teacher and bring hands-on STEAM learning to life.
What You'll Do:
Lead hands-on robot-building classes for children ages 2-14 across schools, camps, and community settings Travel to program sites and teach/instruct classes Manage time and maintain a positive experience of the class Set up, organize, and maintain tools, materials, and projects Troubleshoot builds and guide students through problem-solving (training provided by our team) Create a fun, inclusive, high-energy classroom that builds confidence and creativity Adapt in real-time using improvisation to keep students engaged Coordinate with teachers, parents, and site partners during programs Provide feedback and insights to improve programs and operations
What We're Looking For:
Passion for working with children and interactive learning Creative, positive, and energetic personality to lead a classroom Strong communication skills Reliable, flexible, and able to work in dynamic environments Comfortable traveling locally Ability to lift up to 35 lbs Willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid certification (Certification will be arranged by our team) Commitment to creating inclusive, diverse STEAM experiences Preferred Experience (Nice to Have): Teaching, coaching, or leading groups of children (teacher, camp counselor, etc) Experience with crafts, building, or circuits Familiarity with basic tools, simple software programming, or creative construction
Hours:
This is a Part-Time role with hours ranging from 5-15 hours per week. The number of hours per week varies. While we will try to accommodate your preferences and existing commitments, weekdays, weekends and holidays will all make up parts of the schedule.
