Oak View Elementary School BBA Afterschool Inc. is hiring enthusiastic and dependable After-School Chess Instructors to lead engaging chess enrichment programs for elementary-aged students at Oak View Elementary School in Silver Spring, MD. Whether you#39;re an experienced chess player, tournament competitor, coach, teacher, or simply enjoy teaching strategy and critical thinking to children, we#39;d love to hear from you. Position Details Part-time, after-school position Monday through Friday Between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM 1.5-hour sessions $37.50 per session ($25 per hour) No weekends No lesson planning required Curriculum and chess materials provided Why You#39;ll Love This Role Help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills Flexible afternoon schedule Consistent weekly schedule Curriculum and materials provided Opportunities for advancement within BBA Afterschool Supportive work environment Ideal Candidates Chess players and club members Chess coaches Teachers and substitute teachers Tutors College students and graduates Anyone passionate about chess and working with children Responsibilities Teach chess fundamentals and strategy Follow BBA#39;s structured curriculum Create a positive and engaging classroom environment Supervise groups of approximately 15-25 students Encourage critical thinking, patience, and sportsmanship Communicate professionally with school staff and BBA leadership Qualifications Chess experience is preferred but not required Experience working with children is a plus Comfortable working with grades K-5 Reliable transportation to Oak View Elementary School Dependable and punctual Must successfully complete the required Montgomery County Public Schools background check and fingerprinting process Job Type Part-time Contract Seasonal In-person Join BBA Afterschool and inspire students through the game of chess while making a lasting impact in your community.
