Job Description
The PiT is a small business in Port Washington, NY. Our goal is to provide affordable high quality content to the teens of Port Washington.
Position:
Temporary Summer Camp Head Counselor (one position available)Hours:
40 hours per week during summer camp weeksDate Range Applicable:
July 20th-July 31stCompensation:
$1,800 for 2 weeks of actual campDescription of Duties:
The Summer Camp Head Counselor contributes to the well-being of our community by providing safe, supportive, fun experiences for teens enrolled into our program. The Summer Camp Head Counselor helps lead our summer camp for children in Grades 6th-9th grade.PRIMARY DUTIES
- Be present for 2 weeks of camp, July 20th - July 31st
- Help reinforce camp expectations
- Reinforce all safety procedures for staff and campers
- Regularly communicate with caregivers regarding camp
- Facilitate and manage administrative tasks such as check-in and check-out procedures
- Effectively manage logistical changes & challenges
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED Equivalent
- Cleared background check
- Experience working with children
- Experience in classroom management
- Enjoyment of working with children of all ages
- Demonstrated organizational, time management, emotional intelligence, problem solving, and teamwork skills
- Strong communication skills
- Flexibility in schedule & dedication to summer program
- Willingness to collaborate with and support co-workers in variety of non-job-specific tasks
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS
- Spanish speaking
- Experience with summer camps or day-camps of any sort
- Classroom or classroom-equivalent experience with middle school aged children
- Demonstrated capability in planning, organizing and executing activities
