Our Climbing Instructors are responsible for elevating beginner to intermediate climbers skill and confidence on and off the wall. In this essential role, you'll guide participants through a transformative learning experience. The ideal candidate will have a high level of mastery in belaying, as well as strong proficiency in climbing movement and technique. Duties and Responsibilities:
Cultivate an inviting and supportive atmosphere, and become an integral part of our climbing community. Greet every customer who walks through the doors with eye contact, a smile, and a verbal acknowledgement. Embrace customer experience as a cornerstone of your role, engaging with visitors in a lively and warm manner. Actively interact with customers, going the extra mile to make their experiences unforgettable. Stay up-to-date and informed on facility offerings found on the website, gym-management software, any recent communications, or elsewhere. Effectively manage risk in an indoor climbing environment. Setup, oversite and cleanup of various clinics, events, and classes. Top Rope and Lead belaying. Ability to instruct Top Rope and Lead belaying, as well as an ability to spot and correct malpractices. Provide ongoing instruction on climbing risk management including falling, landing, and potential hazards around the gym. Provide participants with impactful, high-quality climbing experiences Uphold the gyms rules, procedures, and policies. Ability to manage your time clock appropriately Other duties as required
Qualifications:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience in and around climbing gyms. Mastery level of understanding in Top Rope belaying. High level of proficiency in climbing movement and technique. Outstanding interpersonal skills, allowing you to connect with climbers of all levels and backgrounds. A proactive problem-solving mindset, matched with a keen sense of fun and adventure. Mastery level of understanding in Lead belaying is preferred but not required. Prior instruction/teaching experience is preferred but not required. Climbing Wall Instructor or Single Pitch Instructor certification is preferred but not required. Must be 16 years of age or older
