To begin approximately in June or as soon thereafter, not to exceed May 15, 2027, annually renewable, depending on availability of funding, program needs, and satisfactory performance Duties and Responsibilities Provide support to interdisciplinary course, Ke Ao Mau. Specifically, this course provides students with a unique body of culturally-anchored and community-based ike (knowledge), skills, and values that facilitate work with kanaka maoli (Native Hawaiians). Work with instructor, associated faculty, kumu loea and students during the course semester(s) and through course preparation Provide support for all elements of the course and for community engagement elements connected to projects Provide overarching communications support as needed for associated Ke Ao Mau projects Develop reports, presentations, etc. Support activities associated with Huakai, including engaging with community partners Liaise with Native Hawaiian Serving organizations connected to student s service hours Support efforts and development of Ke Ao Mau mentoring program. Lead efforts associated with development and dissemination of Ke Ao Mau projects publicity via email, social media, flyers, website etc. Coordinate Ke Ao Mau community sessions and activities related to projects. Assist with coordination of submission project documents, fiscal documents, Kumu loea request, payments, etc. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Be a classified degree-seeking student in a Masters or PhD program in Social Work, Public Health or related field under UHM Graduate Division; Be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above Maintain 6 credits per semester with the exception of those who have reached 800 (dissertation) or 700F (thesis) Strong interest in Native Hawaiian cultural practices Strong interest in interdisciplinary and community-based research and instruction Strong experience with Zoom, oral, writing, and interpersonal skills Desirable Qualifications Bachelor's or master's degree in social work, public health, or related field Experience in social work or related field with an interest or background in child and family welfare Experience with Native Hawaiian populations Ability to generate project reports Competency in cross-cultural community work
