a cover letter A CV the names and contact information for three (3) references academic transcripts proof of a social work license (LMSW or LCSW) Job Summary The School of Social Work at The University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a full-time, 9 month Visiting Instructor Position (multiple positions may be available) beginning August 3, 2026. The Visiting Instructor will function as an important part of the School of Social Work faculty by teaching courses in both the BSW and MSW programs. This position will support the School of Social Work by providing classroom instruction designed to prepare students to engage with clients who reside in the Gulf South region. Teaching assignments may be on the Hattiesburg and Long Beach campus. Both the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) More information about out school can be found at https://www.usm.edu/social-work Primary Duties and Responsibilities Teaching Courses across the BSW and MSW curricula. Adhering to class teaching schedules. Communicating any concerns or issues with program coordinators and/or school leadership Maintaining a weekly schedule for office hours to assure availability to students. Collaborating with program coordinators and the school director in planning, implementing and evaluating assigned courses. Participation in school functions and assigned committees. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Applicants must have an MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program, be licensed (LMSW), and have two years post-MSW practice experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of the Social Work Code of Ethics Knowledge of Social Work Professional and Technical Standards Knowledge of BSW, MSW, and Field Policies Ability to develop educational presentations on select topics Excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills Preferred Qualifications Licensure at the LCSW level Doctorate in social work or a closely related field Teaching experience in a university setting Experience teaching clinical social work courses in a university setting About The University of Southern Mississippi Since our founding in 1910, The University of Southern Mississippi has remained dedicated to preparing students for success.
