SUNY Oneonta seeks a MSW Program Director/Field Education Administrator to support the development of our newly created online Master of Social Work program, beginning in January 2027. Expectations include, but are not limited to program administration, teaching, research, student advisement, service to the school, university, and community, and continuing professional development.
Key responsibilities include:
Serving as Program Director for the Master of Social Work Program. Providing leadership in program administration, development, and ongoing operations. Representing the MSW program as the primary liaison to the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Coordinating and directing the program's CSWE accreditation process. Teaching 2-4 courses across the undergraduate Human Development & Family Studies program and the MSW program, while supporting student success. Advising MSW students on academic progress and career pathways. Recruiting and retaining students within the MSW program. Engaging in university, departmental, and program service. Participating in scholarly, professional, and continuing development activities. This is a 10-month, in-person appointment with a reduced teaching load while serving as Program Director. A summer stipend is included. Additional duties include but are not limited to: Program Director Leadership within the MSW and HDFS in collaboration with Department Chair Develop a shared vision and strategic plan that coordinates with the University goals. Coordinate course scheduling calendar year-round, facilitate advising, and oversee curriculum and field placements. Oversee CSWE and state regulatory requirements for MSW accreditation and licensure. Implement transparent communication and advocacy within and outside the MSW program and HDFS. Build and support capacity that will advance education, research, and outreach. Identify practical approaches for faculty, staff, and student retention, engagement, and satisfaction. Facilitate professional development for faculty, staff, and graduate students. Field Education Leadership Provide strategic leadership and overall management of the MSW field education program, including planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation. Develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with community agencies, field instructors, and professional organizations. Oversee the placement process, including matching students with field sites that meet educational goals and CSWE competencies. Ensure compliance with CSWE accreditation standards, field education policies, and university requirements. Supervise and support field liaisons, faculty field instructors, and staff involved in field education. Design and deliver field orientation, training, and professional development for students and agency supervisors.
Salary:

Required Qualifications:
MSW from a CSWE-accredited program. Minimum of five (5) years of post-MSW social work practice experience. Prior college-level teaching experience. Demonstrated experience in social work field education, supervision, or program administration. Strong understanding of CSWE accreditation standards and field education requirements. Demonstrated academic experience sufficient to qualify for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate in Social Work or a related field. Experience as department head or program director. Experience with assessment and accreditation/reaccreditation processes. Demonstrated experience in maximizing faculty, staff, and student professional growth and potential. Demonstrated efforts to increase student access and success. Knowledge of online program planning, curriculum development, and monitoring students' academic progress. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive social work education. Experience developing and managing community partnerships. Evidence of leadership, innovation, and program development in field education.
