A Sociology Professor teaches foundational sociological ideas, truths, and methods to students through a combination of classroom instruction and assignments at colleges, trade schools or other institutes. May assist or lead in the creation of the curriculum to be taught. In addition to instruction, they may assist or lead in research initiatives relating to their field.
College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Position Description:
The Department of Sociology within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at DePaul University invites applicants for part-time faculty teaching opportunities. Part-time teaching opportunities are available throughout the academic year. Applicants with qualifications that match our course scheduling needs will be contacted for an interview. Academic course schedules fluctuate from quarter to quarter and the department will work with selected individuals to determine a quarterly schedule. Courses are not guaranteed; however the Department does its best to give ample notice about available courses and potential course cancellations.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. preferred Ph.D. required for graduate courses This is an in person position at the Lincoln Park Campus. We do not accept applicants seeking online or remote teaching positions.

Applicants will be considered for all courses offered in the Department of Sociology. In addition to teaching in the Department, this postion may also include teaching in our related programs, including the First-Year Program and the Sophomore Seminar in Multiculturalism. About DePaul University's Academic Calendar:
Except for the College of Law, DePaul University operates on a quarter system. Classes in Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters are 11 weeks in length (including finals week) and Summer courses, in two sessions, are typically 5 weeks in length. The College of Law operates on the semester system. Classes in the Fall and Spring semesters are 16 weeks in length (including finals week) and it offers a Summer Session of 7 weeks (including final exams).

Salary Information:
