Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract An opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support high school students in a resource and push-in setting. This full-time position is located in Kenai, Alaska, within a school environment that values inclusivity and tailored educational approaches. The role involves working directly with students requiring specialized support to help them succeed in their academic and social development.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized instruction and support to high school students with special needs. Collaborate with general education teachers to provide push-in support within the classroom. Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's goals. Maintain accurate records and communicate progress to students, families, and staff. Participate in team meetings and contribute to strategies that enhance student learning experiences. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student growth.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid teaching certification in Special Education. Experience working with high school students in a resource or push-in setting. Strong knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and behavioral management techniques. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs. While open to candidates willing to travel, preference is given to those seeking a long-term placement to ensure continuity for students.
