Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Bring your expertise in Special Education to a rewarding contract role supporting students for the 2026-2027 school year near Sterling, AK. Immediate opportunities are available for dedicated educators to make an impact across various grade levels. These positions offer a unique chance to work with intensive needs caseloads in secondary and middle school settings, as well as a combined Special Education/General Education role at a fly-in elementary school.
Qualifications and Experience:
Hold or be eligible for a valid Special Education teaching certification Experience working with intensive needs (self-contained) populations preferred Adaptable to a variety of age groups (grades 6-post secondary and elementary multi-grade) Comfortable managing caseloads of approximately 10 students Strong communication and collaboration skills with teachers, staff, and families Ability and willingness to travel for school-based needs (including fly-in assignments) Commitment to fostering inclusive, supportive learning environments
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver individualized instruction for students with intensive needs in self-contained settings Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams Assess student progress and adapt instruction to best support academic and behavioral goals Provide specialized support and modifications for students, ensuring access to curriculum Collaborate with general education faculty to integrate inclusive practices For the fly-in role: teach both Special Education and General Education to an elementary multi-grade class, balancing responsibilities throughout the school day Why consider this opportunity?
