Job Description
Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference as a Behavior Special Education Teacher supporting K-6th grade students in a self-contained classroom dedicated to children with severe behaviors. In this contract position, you'll play a vital role in helping students achieve their fullest potential by implementing effective strategies, writing individualized education programs (IEPs), and ensuring a safe, structured environment for learning. Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education Teaching certification Experience teaching students with severe behavioral needs, preferably in a self-contained classroom Strong ability to develop and implement effective Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) Demonstrated skill in writing and overseeing IEPs for students with significant needs Restraint training preferred and openness to ongoing professional development Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilitiesRole Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality, individualized instruction to K-6 students with severe behavioral challenges Develop, monitor, and update behavioral intervention plans in close collaboration with support staff and families Write, review, and implement IEPs tailored to each student's academic, social, and behavioral goals Foster a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment that prioritizes student safety and growth Use evidence-based strategies to address challenging behaviors and promote positive student outcomes Provide crisis intervention and behavior support as needed in accordance with established protocols Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists, aides, and administrators This 37.5-hour-per-week role is ideal for passionate educators seeking a rewarding, hands-on position supporting students with significant needs.
