21st
Century Enrichment Teacher Hours:
10-15 hours per week Job Summary The 21st Century EnrichmentTeacher plays a key role in providing academic and enrichment support to students in an afterschool setting. Responsibilities include assisting with homework, planning and conducting engaging lessons in math, reading, and science, and recognizing student achievements. The enrichment teacher collaborates with site staff to create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic growth and personal development.
Reports to:
21st Century Site Coordinator Knowledge and Skills Required Strong understanding of child behavior, learning styles, and developmental patterns. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff, and parents. Ability to design and deliver engaging, creative, and effective lesson plans. Proficiency in using educational technology and integrating it into instructional strategies. Competence to work with and support varied student populations. Strong classroom management, organization, and time-management skills. Creativity and resourcefulness in developing hands-on activities and lessons. Patience, flexibility, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instruction and Academic Support Plan and deliver daily lessons and activities that focus on math, reading, science, and other enrichment areas, fostering students' academic, social, and motor skill development. Assist students with homework and provide individualized academic support as needed. Incorporate 21st-century teaching strategies, including collaborative and project-based learning approaches. Student Engagement and Recognition Recognize and celebrate academic achievements to motivate and encourage student growth. Create a supportive environment where all students feel valued and respected. Program and Classroom Management Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning. Develop and implement classroom rules and expectations aligned with program policies. Monitor student behavior and address issues promptly and effectively. Collaboration and Communication Collaborate with lead teachers, assistants, and site coordinators to provide a variety of enrichment opportunities. Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and program activities. Participate in professional development sessions to enhance teaching practices and program delivery. Assessment and Reporting Track and document student progress through progress reports and other evaluation tools. Complete and submit weekly lesson plans to the Site Coordinator.
Qualifications Required:
Certification:
Valid teacher certification.
Experience:
Previous teaching experience preferred, with demonstrated expertise in relevant academic or enrichment areas.
Skills:
Leadership and organizational skills. Proficiency in using computers and educational technology.
Preferred:
Experience working with varied student populations. Additional training, licensure, or certification in specific enrichment areas.
ADA Requirements Physical and Mental Requirements:
Ability to work effectively in an in-person learning environment. Physical capacity to move around the classroom, supervise students, and manage materials and equipment. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to use computers and educational technology tools for instruction and reporting. Capacity to work under pressure, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
