What they do

A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Qualifications:
 Bachelor's degree or higher in Marketing, Business, Finance, or in a related area AND 
Microsoft Office Specialist Expert Essential Duties:
 Possess current content knowledgeable in the area of instructional responsibility.  Continue as a life-long learner.  Participate in professional learning activities.  Collaborate with colleagues.  Learn and utilize new strategies and technologies to engage students in challenging, authentic, and meaningful learning experiences.  Model lifelong learning and curiosity to students.  Value and collaborate with community and global experts to create challenging, authentic, and meaningful learning experiences and projects for students - including the use of mentors, internships, apprenticeships, field trips, etc.  Design, redesign, and facilitate challenging, authentic, and meaningful work that appeals to students' motives, interests, and learning styles.  Value and encourage students to learn any time and any place.  Embrace and promote the system's mission, vision, beliefs, and goals.  Create a marketing program and classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth  Establish effective rapport with students  Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good educational foundation  Utilize technology to motivate students and prepare students for the 21st century  Participate in school-related activities that enhance teacher, student, parent, and community relations  Analyze different data sources in making data-driven decisions for instruction  Establish a positive relationship with students, parents, co-workers, volunteers, and other visitors  Perform other duties as assigned by the principal
