Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract position supporting elementary students with severe behavioral needs in a self-contained classroom environment. This unique opportunity focuses on providing compassionate, consistent instruction and support for students in grades K-6. The role centers on creating and implementing behavioral intervention plans and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), fostering both academic and social-emotional growth for each learner.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification Proven experience working with students with severe behaviors Strong understanding of behavioral intervention strategies and IEP development Restraint training preferred Skilled in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and families Comfortable managing self-contained classroom settings
Core Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to K-6 students with significant behavioral challenges Develop, implement, and monitor effective behavioral intervention plans Create thorough IEPs in accordance with applicable regulations and standards Employ evidence-based practices to manage and support severe behaviors Foster a supportive, structured, and inclusive learning environment Collaborate with school staff, related service providers, and families to maximize student progress Complete required documentation and participate in relevant meetings This contract position requires a commitment of 37.5 hours per week during the school year, offering a meaningful way to make a direct impact on students' lives while working closely alongside dedicated professionals.
